Site Visitor Workshops

Become an APA Site Visitor (Virtual Training via Zoom)

  • No cost to participants for attending.
  • Required of new visitors to be eligible to conduct accreditation site visits.
  • Please review the criteria for being a site visitor.
  • Open to new site visitors and experienced site visitors.
  • Experienced visitors should attend the workshop at least every five years.
  • Provide training in how to conduct a site visit under the Standards of Accreditation (SoA).
  • Continuing Education (CE) credits: Each participant attending the full workshop receives CE credits for licensed psychologists, and the Office of Accreditation pays those fees.
  • There is especially a need in the site visitor corps for generalists (psychologists in areas other than clinical, counseling and school).
  • The CoA makes a special effort to ensure diversity among site visitors. Therefore, the commission strongly encourages the nomination of women and members of underrepresented groups.

This training is designed to provide exposure to the SoA and the role and functions of the site visitor. This training is open to those interested in becoming a site visitor, as well as experienced site visitors. Attendees will be required to complete an asynchronous online training prior to the day of the synchronous training. Additional details will be provided at the time of registration. CE credits will be awarded to those that complete both the asynchronous online training AND attend the synchronous training in full. There are no fees to attend.

Effectively Serving as an APA Site Visit Team CHAIR (Virtual Training via Zoom)


11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. ET

June 7, 2024


This training is designed to teach current site visitors how to effectively lead a site visit team. CE credits will be awarded to those that complete the training in full. There are no fees to attend. If you would like to register for this training, please email apasitevisit@apa.org indicating that you would like to register for the Chair training.

Self-Study Workshops

UPCOMING DATES

  • No cost to participants for attending.
  • Open to anyone interested in learning more about the Standards of Accreditation (SoA) and how to apply them in being responsive to the self-study instructions. If you are not a member of the organization hosting the conference and wish to attend the session please contact OPCA directly.
  • May be especially helpful to programs that will be submitting self-studies in the near future for initial or continued accreditation.
  • These workshops are not an avenue for individual program consultation; please contact the office if you have questions specific to your training program.
  • Sorry, no CE credits are offered for this workshop.
Preparing an APA Accreditation Program Self-Study (Virtual Training Via Zoom)
11:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. ET

This training is designed to provide guidance on preparing a self-study based on the Standards of Accreditation (SoA) and what to expect during a site visit. Specifically, this training will provide a comprehensive review of Standard II of the SoA and address key aspects of the other standards of the SoA. To get the most out of the training, attendees with limited knowledge of the SoA are strongly encouraged to complete an asynchronous online training on the SoA prior to the day of the synchronous training. Additional details will be provided at the time of registration. There are no fees to attend this training. CE credits will not be provided.
